The High School Leckhampton Community - Remembrance
Pupils, staff and local neighbours gathered together today in an act of Remembrance, followed by a moment of silent reflection. Ella Lake 7WI, read the poem, A minute lost in silence by Garth Ukrainetz and Mrs Wood shared stories about the service and sacrifice of local Leckhampton people during the second World War. She encouraged the pupils to reflect upon the resilience, community spirit and compassion of local people during a time of great uncertainty. Finley South played The Last Post and Reveille as everyone observed a period of silence.
After the Remembrance assembly, over refreshments, some of the local visitors talked to pupils about the Second World War, showing them medals awarded to relatives and some very moving artifacts.
