Regional Table Cricket Event

On Tuesday 18th March, HSL took a team of pupils to take part in the Regional Table Cricket Event at The University of Gloucestershire. We were making our debut in the competition which followed on from some coaching we received by Gloucestershire Cricket Foundation last term.
Our pupils made an excitable but tentative start and we unfortunately lost our first game by 4 runs. That didn't hold us back though, as we won our next two games before lunch meaning that we went through to the semi finals as group runners up.
In the semi finals, we played a team from Bristol (former winners of the competition) so we knew that we were in for a challenging game. Going into the last over, we were chasing the game but we scored 19 runs meaning we propelled ourselves into the final.
With huge optimism and lots of energy, we played our best table cricket in the final. Fielders and batters were exceptional and the teamwork that we showed was a huge part of our success. We won the final and have been put forward to represent the county at Edgbaston Cricket Centre on Monday 12th May 2025!
What a great achievement for our pupils. The energy when we returned to school was a joy to witness. A thoroughly enjoyable day out which we can't wait to do all over again.
