Pi Day at HSL
Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in Maths to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, which is approximately 3.14159.
Students spent their morning registration measuring different sized circles. Some objects included a 2 pence piece, a tin of tuna and a box of heros. The students worked in groups measuring the circumference and diameter of their objects to discover that regardless of the circles size, this ratio will always equal Pi.
Here are some photos of the students enjoying Pi!
